The company will be rehearsing "Painter and Goddesses," based on the "Tales of Goddess and a Painter", a captivating journey through ancient times, intertwining dances from the renowned Silk Road region. Open to all ages.

Join Karen Agaton for Candlelight Restorative at our Junction Studio every Sunday! Originally created to assist those recovering from injuries, its slow and meditative style is like one giant pause button for our hectic lifestyles. In each 75-minute class, you will be guided through a meditation and/or breathwork, followed by a sequence of floor based poses using yoga props – such as blankets, bolsters, and blocks – to comfortably support the body. Soft music sets the mood while candlelight illuminates the room. Minimal effort is required making this class suitable for all levels.

Peking Opera Workshop
This workshop will include a brief history of Peking Opera, the four major character roles, symbolic meanings of theatrical convention, costumes and props, how to laugh and cry in Peking Opera. No prior experience necessary, open to all!
William Lau is a graduate of York University’s Master of Fine Arts program in dance. A refined performer, he was trained in both Chinese traditional dance and Western classical ballet and now specializes in the Dan (female roles) in Chinese opera. William has been an ambassador for Chinese performing arts for the past 25 years, conducting workshops, lectures and demonstrations at various academic institutions and artistic companies as well as museums and cultural organizations and has shared the richness of Chinese dance and opera with a wide range of audiences nationally and internationally. He has pushed the boundaries of traditional art practices by collaborating with professional artists of different artistic disciplines and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Movement Creation Workshop
Join Chrissy King and Dance Together Project for a Movement Creation Workshop where we will create a one-of-a-kind dance piece together! This workshop will consist of a general movement warm-up, followed by a brief conversation around the topic of nature and summer. With this topic in mind, Chrissy will then lead participants through a series of improvisation activities, movement games, and setting of choreography based on movement we have created collaboratively. This workshop is a great opportunity to explore contemporary dance and create a unique dance collaboratively with our community! Open to all ages and abilities and great for families.
Growing up in Upstate New York on the shores of Lake Ontario, Chrissy has danced for as long as she can remember. She began her serious training at LCDA in Oswego, NY, fostering a deep love for movement and an appreciation of the creative process. Chrissy earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Modern Dance from SUNY Brockport under the direction of Bill Evans and Maura Keefe, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Chrissy has worked with notable choreographers such as Mariah Maloney, Maxine Heppner, Mairéad Filgate, Sarah Lochhead and Susan Kendal. Chrissy has been performing regularly with the Barrie, ON based contemporary dance company, Simcoe Contemporary Dancers since 2014.

Join Alli Carry and Dance Together Project in this workshop offering a judgement-free space to explore movement and tune into your imagination, emotions, and sensations. Through guided improvisation and movement tasks, we will find new textures, and pathways in our bodies. The workshop will include a warm-up, set movement phrases, guided improvisation and some choreography.Online registration required (one per person).
Afro Fusion with Zahra Badua
This workshops will introduce various street dance styles from across Africa. This is an open level class exploring body isolations, footwork, hip and core-based movements. Explore African culture through dance while exploring your individuality and self-expression. Open to all ages and levels of experience.
Zahra Badua is a Ghanaian dance educator and choreographer originally from Montreal, Quebec. Her passion for dance started at a very young age as a means to learn and understand her African heritage. Through discovery and training she is skilled in various African and Caribbean based dance genres such as Traditional West African (primarily from Ghana and Guinea), several West African street styles, Soca and Dancehall. She teaches all levels from primary to recreational adults all around the GTA.

Bolly Yoga
Join Ashima Suri in this amazing class blending Yoga and Bollywood! Experience the vibrant fusion of Bollywood music, dance, and flowing movements combined with the stretch and breath work from yoga. Incorporating graceful head gestures, rhythmic arm movements, and gentle pranayama breath work, you'll be toning your arms, and immersing yourself in the mesmerizing rhythms. Bollywood Dance Workshop for Holi “Festival of Colours”

Family Circus Workshop
In this hour-long workshop you and your family will have the chance to join the circus. Try out partner acrobatics, juggling and a bit of clown! The workshop is open to all ages and levels. Please bring a yoga mat with you.
Zita Nyarady is a dance, theatre and circus artist. She has worked on projects with Shakespeare in Action, Anandam Dance Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, Nightwood Theatre, Pilobolus Dance Theatre, Nightwood Theatre, Rhubarb Festival, Native Earth, Theatre Direct, Look up Theatre, Hercinia Arts Collective and Odin Teatret. Zita is a graduate of Dell’arte International and is a PhD candidate in Performance Studies at York University. As co-artistic director of The Grand Salto Theatre Zita’s award winning interdisciplinary performances have been presented across Canada and Internationally. Zita was the 2017/18 Dramatist in Residency at The Heliconian Club in Toronto, is in the Cirque du Soleil performer database and is the mother of an awesome toddler.

Open Studio: Seeking Giants Collective Work-In-Progress Showing
Community members are invited to observe the in-progress-showing of this week’s Dance Together Artist in Residence - Seeking Giants Collective. It is a circus-theatre-dance collective led by: Zita Nyarady, Vanita Butrsingkorn, Hayley Landry and Caitlin Morris-Cornfield. As interdisciplinary artists our collective came together through a love of stilt-walking, spectacle and of playful performance. Whimsy and the unexpected are key elements of our work. Our immersive stilt performances have been presented at Theatre Direct's Forward March Festival and Springworks digital tapashta Festival.

Dance Together Season Opening Party @ Assembly Park!
Following the success of our 2023 Dance Together Festival York Region, which won the nomination of Best In-Person Programming with Ontario Culture Days, we are partnering with Assembly Park and York Region Arts Council to offer ongoing indoor programming during Winter and Spring 2024 at the spacious and wheelchair accessible Assembly Park Studios in Vaughan! We are thrilled about this new chapter, which allows us to continue building community through dance in York Region.
To celebrate this new chapter, we welcome you at the Dance Together Season Opening Party on January 26th, 2024!

Dance Together Open Studio @ Assembly Park
As part of our new 2024 season, we will be hosting several Open Studio events at Assembly Park. Our First one is on January 27th, featuring community dance workshops in Line Dance, Bollywood, Bachata, Vogue and Waltz. All workshops are pay-what-you-can and open to all ages, levels and abilities. Community members are invited to experience any or all of the workshops, which will be part of our ongoing dance programming starting in February 2024.

Join us September 29-October 1 for a free dance workshop or watch an open rehearsal with local professional dance artists at Assembly Park in Vaughan, then come dance together some more on October 15th at the Richmond Hill Public Library (Central Branch). Dance styles include Cuban Salsa, African Dance, European Folk Dance, Bollywood and more! Open to all ages, levels and abilities.

Dance Together Festival Mimico
Summer 2023 marks our 5 year anniversary in Amos Waites Park! The festival takes place on Saturday evenings in Mimico Square, beginning with a mural unveiling dance party on June 24th and continuing July 8th-29th with open dance workshops in Afro Cuban, West African, Vogue, Popping, Ukrainian Folk, Latin Fusion and Contemporary Indigenous Dance. This year will also feature community mural painting, live music and dance performances on the mural. Open to all ages, levels and abilities. FREE to attend, thanks to the support of Toronto’s Arts in the Parks program.

This class for older adults includes a rhythmic but gentle warm-up and stretch followed by movement activities that can all be done seated. Walkers/ wheelchairs welcome! The music includes Brazilian drumming, Cuban Salsa, Cha-cha-cha, Bachata, Merengue and of course, the Macarena!

This class for older adults includes a gentle warm-up and stretch followed by movement activities that can all be done either standing or seated. The music includes Brazilian drumming, Cha-Cha-Cha, Salsa, Swing, Foxtrot, Jazz, and Waltz.

Dance Together at the Library!
We are dancing together at the library again! Have a great time grooving with friends in this dance class for seniors. Warm up with stretches and gentle moves. Then, learn elements from various dance styles. Offered in partnership with the Dance Together Project. This program is for seniors. Priority will be given to valid RHPL card holders.

Artists Summit
On April 26th, join us for the Richmond Hill Cultural Summit at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts!
Performances will include a traditional welcome by Anishinaabe Grandmother Kim Wheatley, music by Persian classical trio, violinist Bernard Fan and Chinese Canadian alt-pop singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Vicki Lovelee, as well as Dance Together Project featuring Waltz, AfroCuban and Ukrainian Folk Dance.
