Dance Together: Move to Music
A dance program for adults 50+ with dance artist Katya Kuznetsova. Each session will include a gentle warm-up and stretch followed by movement activities that can be done seated or standing. The music includes Brazilian drumming, Cha-Cha-Cha, Swing and Waltz! No prior dance experience is required.
Katya Kuznetsova is a professional dance artist with a focus on nurturing human connection and building community through dance. As the founder of the Dance Together Project, she creates dance with “non-dancers” in a way that embraces vulnerability, builds confidence and opens access to the joy of human connection. She develops exceptionally fun and inclusive dance programs for adult learners with a mission to facilitate enjoyable and engaging dance experiences for everybody, regardless of skill level or variations in physical ability. Since 2019, together with several dance and visual artists, she has been co-producing the Dance Together Festival, which transforms city neighbourhoods through large scale dance floor murals and community dance events that celebrate positive and accessible dance experiences.

The Dance Together Festival transforms public spaces and celebrates community through diverse and inclusive dance workshops, vibrant visual art and live music. The festival offers free workshops and events that centre on positive and accessible dance experiences. Open to all ages, levels and abilities.
In September 2024, the festival returns to York Region with four days of free dance programming during Ontario Culture Days. Community members are invited to take free dance workshops and enjoy relaxed performances with diverse local professional dance artists at the Richmond Hill Public Library (1 Atkinson St.) and at Assembly Park Studios VMC (80 Interchange Way). Styles include Swing, Hip-Hop, Afro Fusion, Partner Dance 101, Swing, Salsa, Bollywood, Bharatanatyam as well as Mexican, Ukrainian and European Folk Dances!
All workshops and events are free for participants, thanks to the generous support of the Host in Vaughan Grant and Richmond Hill Community and Cultural Grant Program. Presented by the Dance Together Project in partnership with York Region Arts Council, Assembly Park, City of Vaughan, Tourism Vaughan, City of Richmond Hill and Richmond Hill Public Library.

Ukrainian Village Dance With Stephania Woloshyn
Join Stephania Woloshyn for some fun social Ukrainian dances that combine partner and group formations, using simple repetitive sequences. The best part is you don't need to have ANY dance experience! All ages, all levels welcome! Come on out and have some fun! We guarantee you'll be giggling as you dance!
Stephania Woloshyn is a Toronto based Juno-nominated and Dora award-winning dancer/singer/musician, and multidisciplinary designer. She has trained extensively in ballet, Ukrainian, Eastern-European, Romani and bellydance, and has performed professionally world-wide as a singer and dancer with Toronto’s BLISK, The Lemon Bucket Orkestra, and Kalendar Ukrainian folk ensemble.

Join us for a special event, co-curated by dance artists Katya Kuznetsova and Mel Hart. We’ll be offering FREE community dance and visual art workshops as well as dance performances featuring local dance artists. Meet some of the artists that are part of the Dance Together Residencies, try Bolly Yoga, Graffiti Art, Line Dance, Hip Hop and Bharatanayam and enjoy dance performances in Salsa, Bharatanatyam, Hip Hop, Mexican Folklore, Bollywood and more!

Vernacular Jazz with Hannah
Embrace the music and movement of the swing era in this vernacular jazz dance class. Vernacular jazz encompasses solo dances that originated alongside swing music in the early 20th century. In this class, you'll learn some foundational moves, and explore how to use them to let loose and dance to swing music. No prior dance experience required.
Hannah Bild-Enkin is a lindy hop and vernacular jazz social dancer, performer, choreographer, and instructor based in Toronto. Originally training in tap, ballet, and figure skating, Hannah fell in love with swing era dances in 2011. She enjoys the improvisational nature of jazz music and dancing, and continues to find inspiration in the relationship that music and dance have with each other.
Wedding Dance 101 Workshop

Vernacular Jazz with Hannah

In this class, you'll learn some foundational moves, and explore how to use them to let loose and dance to swing music. No prior dance experience required.
Hannah Bild-Enkin is a lindy hop and vernacular jazz social dancer, performer, choreographer, and instructor based in Toronto. Originally training in tap, ballet, and figure skating, Hannah fell in love with swing era dances in 2011. She enjoys the improvisational nature of jazz music and dancing, and continues to find inspiration in the relationship that music and dance have with each other.
